Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

5.0

This book. This series. I am dead. (Will write a review once I've dries up my tears.)

While reading about a place like Panem and a character like Katniss, one presumes that the case is lost. And that was the primary thought I had for this series. The rebellion, the succession, the war, the whole thing seemed futile in my eyes until... it proved otherwise. While Mockingjay heavily explained in detail what Katniss went through, her own personal war, it somehow finalized things behind the scenes. Again, without Katniss' knowing, things progressed. And it baffled us all how this fictional world (scarily realistic in some ways) could come at peace with itself. The things that proved impossible to cover were covered. The trilogy ended neither with happily ever after, or with all of our hopes and dreams for these characters (who by the way crushed my soul by the thought of leaving them at last). It ended in a neutral place where I personally could live. I could live in the end of those pages, those words, those expectations.

I will carry this trilogy in my heart.

The great thing is that I gained lovely friends with my journey with these books. I’m thankful to the girl who now I proudly call my friend, my katniss, my mockingjay *chuckles* thank you, zahraa.
