A Flat Place by Noreen Masud

challenging emotional reflective slow-paced
"The flat place is what happens when one's reality is at odds with that of everyone else. When one's truth comes starkly into contact with a world which denies it. Which cannot see it."

A Flat Place is exquisite. The writing is poetic and open. It feels intimate and inviting and intensely mesmerising. It is intelligently researched and made relatable by the connections she draws between a flat part of land and her own upbringing and complex PTSD. It's combines something unnoticed in nature, disregarded as important, and gives it a voice, a feeling, a pause for thought and reflection in a deeply personal and visceral way.
