The Odd Woman and the City
by Vivian Gornick
Gornick lifts whole lines from her previous published books, like “Approaching Eye Level”. It’s one thing to reprint essays that have only been in periodicals, but reusing one book for another is a bit much.
I loved “Approaching Eye Level” — witty, concise, hit so close to home for me as a native New Yorker with a similar family background who loves to walk the streets. I was looking forward to more of the same here and was disappointed to find literally the same.
