I was frustrated with the lack of payoff from the politicking in the first two books, but Rapture goes the opposite direction. There’s so much hidden politicking that gets revealed at the climax that I had trouble following it all. And the character development is surprisingly weak - I entirely lost any sense of Nyx’s motivations.
