The Last of Us meets The Xfiles with a dash of Twin Peaks. This would make for a great horror movie, but I don’t know if novel format was the right choice for this story. The plot and horror were excellent, with some great body horror descriptions and details about how big and scary the forest actually is. The pacing was a bit off especially in the beginning, but it got a better as the story continued and the mystery really began to unravel. I’d say the major issue I had was the lack of character development. The author didn’t go into any of them enough to make me care about their survival. The plot and mystery were absolutely what saved it
