Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: Our Year of Seasonal Eating
by Camille Kingsolver, Steven L. Hopp, Barbara Kingsolver
challenging
funny
informative
inspiring
medium-paced
The challenge Kingsolver and her family took on was significant. They did have things working in their favour both in their well-placed family owned land and their cultural background. Even allowing for this the challenge if be ‘locavores’ (only eating locally produced food) was daunting.
Kingsolver recounts the experience with humour and an author’s command of the language. There are helpful contribution from husband and oldest daughter.
The book was published 2007 and is a response to prevailing attitudes then in the US. Sadly, although there has no doubt been progress in some areas in the intervening time, recent political events are setting things back!
