2024 Reread
Another buddy read with Tori! Man, I’m sorry, this book is perfect. I’m going to unfriend anyone who gave it 3 stars. I’m kidding (I think). I love Katniss with every fiber of my being. I kept fluctuating between laughing out loud and crying. My husband literally had to make me stop reading one night because I was being that disruptive.
It’s just so good. I know this won’t be my last reread. This entire world and all of these characters have me in a chokehold. Suzanne Collins owes me an affiliate code with how aggressively I tell everyone to re(read) these. Tori and I are assigning our mothers to read them next. Goodness, I love these so much.
2023 Reread
I love this book. Might be my favorite ever. Just finished reading it aloud to my husband and it was so wonderful to watch him react and figure out what was happening next. We also laughed a lot - Collins has our sense of humor. This series only gets better with age.
2019 Reread
Man, this is good. I don’t think I’ve consumed a book this fast since middle school.
I can’t tell you how much I respect a sequel that’s just as good, if not better than, the first book in a series.
I was so frustrated at the injustice the characters face that I found myself slamming the book down and muttering frustration out loud, like I haven’t known about the Quarter Quell since this book came out in 2009.
My Hunger Games phase hit hard when these were new, but it’s so special that they’re even better now that I’m ten years older. There’s no doubt in my mind that this series will be considered classics eventually.
Not many audiobooks could keep me entertained for six and a half + hours. And I know a book is good if I have a physical, kindle, and audio version all going at once so I can enjoy it as much as possible.
So now I’m gushing with no real point to this review. I know that the entire world’s already read this if they have any interest, but if you haven’t picked them up in a while, please do! They won’t disappoint.
