The Sandcastle by Iris Murdoch

4.0

Super solid story that surprised me quite a bit. Not one for British domestic tales but Murdoch is one hell of a writer. Having studied philosophy, Murdoch clearly had an eye for moral disruption, plaguing the marriage of one couple as William Mor builds a sandcastle with a rogue lover - only to crumble through his hands. Fantastic writing and a highly engaging read. Will certainly read more Murdoch, especially with this beautiful Vintage Classics collection.
