The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
4.0

Like a lot of people out there I have loved the Hunger Games movies for a long time, but I hadn't gotten around to ever reading the books. I put it off because I knew what would happen and I didn't know if it would be worth the time of reading the book but I finally decided enough was enough and I needed to get around to reading at least the first book to find out. It was well worth it.

The book has a lot more emotional depth, character backstories and some really cool moments that were not in the film that make it such a good read. The books are a little more gory than the film but it was also more emotional. The major change I noticed from the book to movie was that the first book doesn't focus on rebellion nearly as much as the movie does, its alot more about the games and the tributes competing. It focuses on the relationships Katniss has with others more because you are able to know what she is thinking about them.

After reading the first book I rewatched the movie and it was so much better having all the extra knowledge behind the scenes. I totally recommend reading the book even if you have seen the movie lots of times.
