My Friend Dahmer
by Derf Backderf
A friend shared this with me. Not sure I would have ever really sought it out otherwise. I avoided reading it for awhile knowing it was about a serial killer (and since Dahmer was a tad before my time, I didn't really know what he did).
I appreciated how human the work was... and also how well researched it was. I didn't read everything in the footnotes so closely (but I read most of it), but I appreciated Backderf's journalist bent re: being clear about source material.
What a story.
Not sure that I'm not going to ever be able to read Backderf's other work without a tinge of serial killer energy, though.
