The Tattooist of Auschwitz by Heather Morris

4.0

The Tattooist of Auschwitz is a haunting and beautiful tale of a man who finds love in the darkest of places when he's imprisoned at a German concentration camp. Heather Morris brings a fresh perspective to the somewhat overdone World War 2 subgenre by placing her protagonist in a job that gave him somewhat of a higher position than most prisoners. While I really enjoyed the story, I found it a bit difficult to follow along with the writing of the novel. After reading this, I found out that this novel was initially intended to be a screenplay - I can't help but wonder if that had an influence on the final product. In spite of this minor complaint, I ultimately enjoyed this book.
