Rook & Rebel by Kate Crew
2.0
This book had potential, but sadly, that’s pretty much all it had. I struggled with the writing style, the missing words and oddly structured sentences were not only difficult to get through but also kept breaking my focus, preventing me from fully immersing myself in the story. The prose felt almost mechanical, like listening to text-to-speech rather than an audiobook. Even the banter, which should have felt natural, came across as stiff and forced. The plot was scattered, and everyone seemed painfully dumb. Regan became more and more annoying as the story unfolded, and by the end, I just wanted her to stop talking. Loved Evie though, so there’s that.
