Abandon
by Meg Cabot
This book was SO FUN. Was it perfect (or as close to perfect as a book can be)? No, far from it. In fact, it had plenty of problems that I probably would have been annoyed with in any other book but this one was so fun that I just did not care. This book had that angsty, early 2010s vibe reminiscent of Vampire Diaries, complete with the whole grey rainy setting. And I ate it up. I felt like I was fifteen again. I was giddy and smiling and getting butterflies and this is a relationship that should be considered insta love, which is a big turn off in books for me, but you know what? Ms. Meg Cabot has rights. She can write insta love because this actually worked for me. I get why they're into each other. He's cute and dark and mysterious but a big sweetheart. She's out here saving animals and doing the most for everyone and being completely selfless (it's giving Elena Gilbert and I love it. Actually their relationship kind of gives Stelena. Like him giving her the necklace to protect her??). And it still manages to be slow burn anyway so I'm fine with it (plus it's only semi-insta love one one side and instant attraction on the other). Meg Cabot is so nostalgic for me since her books were what got me into YA when I was younger so getting to discover one of her older series is such a treat. This was the perfect fun, angsty, nostalgic book I needed and I can't wait to finish the trilogy. It only took me 4 and a half hours to read this so you can fly through it pretty easily. It's that addicting.
