Clare's Goodbye by Libby Gleeson

5.0

Moving house can be an exciting time for us all but it can also bring a sense of loss, anger and confusion. In this partnership between Gleeson and Pignataro, we watch as Clare's siblings say their farewells to the spaces and places of their old hold whilst Clare watches on in determined defiance. When she disappears, her siblings find that she has her own, beautiful way of celebrating one life in preparation for her next adventure.
Gleeson writes so well here, trusting Pignataro's evocative illustrations; a mixed-media blend of collage, pencils and paints which give such a powerful and true depiction of landscape and warmth which I envisioned so closely to that of a child.
