Devil May Care by Angel Lawson, Samantha Rue
3.0
things i liked:
- the writing itself was decent
- micha was truly an unbothered bad bitch
things i disliked:
- hamilton’s name lmfao
- hamilton got off too easily for years of bullying and basically turning the whole school against her
- hamilton switched it up so suddenly, one moment being all bigoted and the next he was retroactively claiming he did shit for gwen’s own good
- the sex scenes were so boring, no foreplay, literally just intercourse
- the fact that he was still with his technically-girlfriend reagan for like WEEKS after doing physical stuff with gwen. and gwen didn’t even seem that bothered by it besides bringing it up a few times. he waited so fucking long before breaking it off with her
- the fact that he never noticed that heston had orange shoes… he was an obvious suspect for kicking gwen in the face, and he has ORANGE SHOES for fucks sake. who the hell else wears orange shoes?
- gwen’s character arc felt incomplete. i thought this whole forgiveness shit was building up to her giving her bio mom another chance, but there was no mention of it
- the “not like other girls” vibe that was going on. according to hamilton, gwen was just so not like other girls, she’s strong, she’s competitive, she’s not fake like all the other bimbos at this school. ugh. i wasn’t expecting much from this author anyway
- the ending felt rushed, everything just being swept into the epilogue without anything satisfyingly conclusive happening on page
- the writing itself was decent
- micha was truly an unbothered bad bitch
