Loved:
  • The way they handle each other's trauma dumps.
  • Well-written and nuanced depiction of
a male survivor of CSA committed by a woman.
I've never seen its equal in the genre.
  • Domestic scenes
  • How Morgan reacts to Jane's
    potential infertility.
  • How the action-packed ending switched between POVs
  • Something about a rural, working class HR always feels so cozy. I get tired of the gilded luxury and constant presence of servants seen in the more popular Regency romances.
  • Marriage occurs early in the book, so we get to see them getting to know each other and falling in love afterwards. Romances that end in a wedding are always a bit disappointing, because I find the whole "learning to live together" thing so interesting.
Didnt love:
  • Ending felt rushed. I would have loved to see
more of them comforting each other in the aftermath of their ordeal. We never see Morgan's reaction to how well she managed the hostage situation, the SA, or her pregnancy.
