This series is such an emotional rollercoaster that you need to stick with it because you really want to see the light. These characters, it’s really hard to not be invested. This book focuses on Joeys story and he was the backbone to the dysfunctional family he belonged to. Support and protecting his siblings from his alcoholic and abusive father is a lot for a young 17 year old to be responsible for.
This is heavy in so many more ways than the first 2 because everything and every moment is covered in a shadow. The only saving grace is you knew a lot of the foundation from book one and two.
Over the years you see Joey and Aoife form & share a friendship that turns into an all consuming love for each other. Ther love is powerful, devestating, toxic, healing & beautiful. They definitely had moments where you wanted to yell at both of them for their choices and toxicity in many ways.
Sad girl book take three! I have to read this series with week’s in between each due to the heaviness they bring. I’m so glad we are getting to see these events through Joeys and his perspective as well as seeing his story.
If you want your heart rolled out and put back together, then this series is for you
