Children of Dune by Frank Herbert

Not as good as Messiah or the original dune, but really solid and constantly interesting, really excited about the next book.
Ranking: Messiah > Dune > Children

I really love the concepts presented in this book. If I have any major complaints or problems with the book, I would say I only am really very slightly disappointed by how Ghanima gets what feels like significantly less development than Leto, which makes sense because the direction of the story and Ghanima serves her role in the story incredibly well, she isn't poorly written or anything like that, I think their dynamic is great, it's just the slightest bit disappointing coming off the expectation/pitch of "Paul's Twin Children."

I love the way the story expands after Paul has left the picture. I love seeing the conclusion to Paul's story, and the way in which Frank Herbert is able to setup the next stage of the story outside the shadow of Paul, Muad'dib, the fool saint, when his character is practically is synonymous with Dune and Messiah is masterfully done. Leto is a worthy successor to the protagonist role and delivers a brilliant new take on a ruler in the Dune universe.
