The Pumpkin Spice Café by Laurie Gilmore

The beginning of this book reminded me of a fall version of Hart of Dixie (I ADORED this show). The small town world building/autumnal vibes are definitely there.

To me this book had too much going on & none of it was done correctly or thoroughly. There is a small town vibe but we don’t really get to know too many characters/we don’t go deep into any of the town festivities. There is a mystery element to the book but like it’s so so so unnecessary (it should have ended with the cat).  There is also a love story? If you like instant love then this is for you, if you don’t like that then don’t pick this book up.

I also feel compelled to say this book is in third person. If I would have known that beforehand I wouldn’t have picked it up. I personally don’t like third person POV.

I liked the beginning of the book, struggggggled in the middle, almost DNF’d at around 60% then finished it as an audiobook just to get it off my currently reading list. It does pick up towards the end & gets a little better but overall this book can totally be passed & I’ll forget about it by tomorrow, but the cover is gorgeous & looks pretty on my shelf.
