Ghost Girl by Ally Malinenko

4.0

I first saw GHOST GIRL on the shelf of the smol bb section (middle grade) of Barnes & Noble about a month ago. I picked it up, read the back, and thought, “hell yes, more ghost stories for these children.” At the time, the copies available were only physical ARCs and I, being more of an e-reader, kept my eyes on the digital public library until the book’s release date when I hit borrow immediately.

I finished this story in two days. For spooky szn, it is perfect. A cute but also very (very, like damn for a middle grade book) creepy tale about love and friendship in the face of evil. Think Goosebumps but verging on YA horror. If you’re looking for a sweet, easy read that has all the workings of a haunted small town and defiant yet brave young characters on a quest to save their loved ones, look no further.
