A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness

This is the truest depiction of chronic grief I’ve ever read or seen (including the film). My dad was diagnosed with cancer when I was 13 and he died when I was 20. I was also bullied and sometimes had a hard time at school. My mum and I are polar opposites, but did our best.
Until this story I had never seen grief displayed as honestly as this in any media - the sheer pain of watching someone you love nearly die over and over again. And the fourth story, how your mind tries to deal with that pain.
