I only read this one to finish the series. I went in not expecting much and was still disappointed.
In the first books, my main issue was that the main characters do not communicate. The reader gets some insight into their thoughts but they barely communicate them to their special other. That is better in this book (only took them 6 books to learn...).
However, there is so much plot that has to happen in this book and the writing does not do it justice. Maybe don't spend soo many pages on smut and then just 2 on THE deciding battle? I don't mind smut, but if the plot suffers from this ... plus the amount and timing of their "fun" is really off-putting at times.
Overall, the whole pacing is off. Is it fast paced because so many "big" things like battles and showdowns and decisions are happening in such few pages? But the "filler" text in between feels sooo long that it makes the book rather slow.
Also - there are things that seem like mistakes in writing. E.g.: A baby is born, the name is never mentioned but then at one point it's "he saw her carrying *name*" and we just have to guess that that's the baby.
Last but not least, I feel like graphic descriptions of r*pe scenes from the pov of the assaulter should not be written in a book that doesn't treat this topic with enough critical thought. They also didn't give the book anything - we knew the bad guy is bad, the graphic descriptions would not have been necessary.
