Read this due to a friend's recommendation, and I loved McCarthy's "The Road", so I gave it a shot.
It is pretty gruesome, but I could deal with the gore and all. I found The Kid/The Man's character the most fascinating and appealing to me, so how he refuses to step up against the dark and dies at the Judge's hands was heartbreaking to me more than anything.
I also thought it was really interesting to see themes in "Blood Meridian" that I also saw in "The Road". The same goes for symbolism, like the fire. I've heard that McCarthy has a tendency to connect and develop themes across his novels, so it was interesting to see and compare the two.

Graphic: Gore, Racism, Violence, and Murder
Moderate: Homophobia and Pedophilia
If you can't handle graphic descriptions of gore, then I would say to not read this...
