I’m always worried with a BatB retelling because there are alot off good (and not so good) ones out there. But I trust Lisette Marshall and she did not disappoint.
This first installment is a fun, fast, and dark read. The characters are bold and flawed in a way that has you rooting for them to finally give in to their desires.
The plot is just starting to form. While this is a stand-alone you can tell it is the first book in a much longer story that surrounds the dubious acts of a mortal king. I walked away satisfied, but with a lot more questions about where this story goes next. I can’t wait to meet the next set of characters in this series. And hopefully see the return of others.
