Dangerous Minds by Janet Evanovich

5.0

Got this book at the library, read the audio version.
Dangerous Minds is book 2 in the “mind” series, but you do not have to read them in order, tho you may want to, so you know how they met. Riley Moon was working for a bank, but then Emerson Knight hired her as his assistant. In this case they were helping a friend, Wayan Bagans(sp), who is a Monk. He had his island stolen by some bad guys. So, Riley, Emerson and Vernon(Emerson’s Cousin) goes out on an adventure to find the island. They end up at National Yellowstone Park, then they go to Hawaii. There is a powerful secret in those volcanoes, that they have to figure out what and how that secret is being used.

I just loved this book, it was so intriguing. I usually don’t listen to an audio all the way thru in one sitting, but this one I did. It’s a little over 4 hours. The characters are such a hoot, especially Vernon. I was impressed with the details, I never been to Yellowstone, but I could picture everything, tho some parts I wish I couldn’t. You just never know what is hidden behind all that beauty. There’s a little romance too, nothing too graphic, tho there is some nakedness, so if that bothers you, just be warned. I think my favorite character is Emerson, he’s an eccentric billionaire who’s extremely smart. Oh, and there is a great twist at the end, blew me away, which doesn’t happen often. I think this would make an awesome movie.

The audio part: I”m not sure why Lorilei King reads all the books, I mean how many characters can she keep up with? That’s a lot of books. She does the Charmed series as well as the Plum series. In fact, I kept hearing Lula instead of Vernon. But, other than that, I thought she did a pretty good job with the characters.

Just a headsup, this is not a cozy mystery like some of the others she wrote.
