Chasing River by K.A. Tucker

4.0

My Rating: 4 out of 5 stars.

Disclaimers: I received a copy of this novel from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion. I was not obligated to write a good review nor did I receive any compensation for writing this review.

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: I adored this book. It's the first one I've read by this author, but I've had her on my radar for forever. I just always thought I'd like her stuff.

This one proved that statement true. I adored this book. Her writing style is great, the characters were intriguing, and the plot line hooked me in from the get-go.

I loved the setting of Dublin and the backdrop to the IRA. It was fascinating and truly original.

I felt like I was reading a book unlike anything I'd ever previously read. Truly a fantastic read.

The Characters: The characters were multi-faceted. None were perfect; none were tragically flawed. I loved watching them interact.

Major Strengths: The writing itself, the characters, the plot, basically everything.

Major Weaknesses: The pacing might have slowed at times, but not enough to frustrate me. I thought the ending was a little bit too loose for my liking, but I still enjoyed the book.

So why 4 stars? It stood out of the crowd and caught my attention.

Can I read the series out of order? Yes, I kind of figured the book was probably a companion story to some others, but I never felt lost while reading. It did make me want to go read the previous two in the series though.

Warnings/Side-notes: Some sexual references (fairly vague, more like YA than adult). Instances of strong language and violence.

The Wrap-up: A fun, addicting read.

Love,
