“Dark Matter” by Blake Crouch is a fast-paced sci-fi thriller that follows Jason Dessen’s journey to return home after being knocked unconscious and is kidnapped by an unknown man. He wakes up in a world very different from his own. While the book is engaging and well-written, it lacks depth in character development, particularly for Jason’s wife, son and Amanda. Amanda’s story in particular feels unfinished. She seems to only be used to be a help and mental strength for Jason. There were also plot inconsistencies that left me a little confused after finishing. Despite these flaws, the book is a fun, quick, engaging, and easy-to-read fast-paced story. I’m interested in watching the tv show and reading more from this author.
