The Paper Menagerie and Other Stories by Ken Liu

5.0

This book took me way too long to finish because I’m generally pretty bad at reading short stories / staying invested. However, that does not reflect on how beautiful of an anthology i thought this was.
Liu intricately weaves fact & fiction and history & memory masterfully. After each story, I needed to take time to reflect and think about what I had just read. The revisionist technological history combined with attempts to bring actual history and violence to light was so interesting.
My favorite stories we’re probably the one about the serial killer and the girl with the fake eyes, the one about the Chinese miners in Idaho, and the one about the woman who turns herself into a robot fox.
