Reading in the Dark by Seamus Deane

A beautiful 'fictional' memoir about community paranoia and betrayal, watching the lived experience of god and folklore die and be replaced by open conflict in the streets, the distance between a son and mother, the envy of a father who cannot overcome his discontent, and boyhood when things just don't add up and you can't let it go uncovered

Big fan
