Magic Bleeds
by Ilona Andrews
Ah, there’s nothing like a bar fight in Atlanta, so they tell me. Especially if that bar fight involves vampires and shapeshifters in an Atlanta where magic has almost entirely overpowered technology. That’s the situation Kate Daniels faces as this fourth installment in the series opens. It appears that someone is urging the vampires to fight the shapeshifters in ways that haven’t been seen heretofore. The two groups often meet to discuss their issues and prevent an all-out war. The vampire faction, known as the People, are aligned with Kate’s birth father, who desperately wanted to kill her before she could grow up and challenge his ancient power.
As it turns out, the person behind the coming conflict is none other than an employee of her birth father, a truly evil man who will stop at nothing to get his way.
This is Kate at her turbo-feministic best. It is a kind of violence that sometimes seems almost unrelenting. It gives a remarkable new definition to the concept of a family feud, and it kept me thoroughly engrossed to the back cover.
