Make the Bread, Buy the Butter: What You Should and Shouldn't Cook from Scratch -- Over 120 Recipes for the Best Homemade Foods by Jennifer Reese

4.0

A fun, whimsical book. Reads more like it was written in 2007 than in 2011, which is mostly a good thing, but suggests the author is a bit "fake naive" in places. Very interesting build vs buy comparisons, including some examples of urban animal husbandry. Helps answer the question "oh, what, should you churn your own butter, too?" and other questions in this vein.
