The Underground Railroad by Colson Whitehead

5.0

I just keep imagining the helluva research Whitehead must have done while working on this book. So detailed, vivid and brave as if the ancestors assembled in his room to fill his ink with their stories.

This book is such an important read for me because for once, I read a book about slavery that isn't focused on just the poor poor slaves and the inhuman Whites. Here, I met the compassionate White and the terrible Black and the kind Black and the cruel White.
