The Valley of Fear by Arthur Conan Doyle

3.5

I enjoyed the first half of this as much as any other Holmes mystery, but the second half, telling the backstory of the murder in the first half, set in America and without Holmes, was pretty dull. The reveal at the end makes it worth it first time around, but other than that, I can't say it is a story I'd bother reading again, not the second half anyway.
