The Earl's Christmas Pearl by Megan Frampton

4.0

3.5 stars.

This was really cute.

Pearl was accidentally left behind by her mother and she's excited because she can do things without worrying about offending someone nearby. Like running around in her stocking feet, getting hot chocolate, and more. But she's finding that without the servants to cook, keep the home warm, finding her cloak to go out, or redressing she's in danger of starving and freezing.

Owen is staying at his godmother's home alone, except for Mr. Shorty, his dog...I think it's his dog, recovering from an injury. He's happy about being alone because finally no one is needing him for anything. However the next door neighbor is needing some help but she's far more delightful than his family.

I enjoyed this, it was a quick read. Pearl and Owen were cute together. I couldn't really stand their mother's.

I guess I've read book 3 or 4 in this series, I don't remember it at all. And while I did enjoy this one, I could tell that if it had been longer I wouldn't have stuck with it and continued to the end. With the one I read previously I mentioned that's what happened, I set it down and didn't feel the need to pick it up again, still did but pretty sure the last half was skimmed.
