Ugh I really wanted to love this. It was fine, easy to read and I did enjoy bits of Ellie’s character growth (and always love a book about middle aged people still growing and evolving). I just found the writing was not vibing for me for some reason - overly obvious and laid on way too thick a lot of a the time. The plot also really left me wanting at the end with various things feeling completely forgotten about (is there a book 2 coming? It feels like there must be?!) 

I love and loved Jacqueline’s children’s books and they will forever be a huge part of my childhood in so many ways - I liked all the little nods to these books in here 💛
