The Apothecary's Garden
by Julie Bozza
I am on record as enjoying the sweet, slow-moving romance--and a well-made cup of tea--but this book really tried my patience.
This was no slow-growing romance, the attraction between Tom and Hilary was essentially instantaneous, it was Hilary's willingness to act that was slow-moving.
I found the age difference too implausibly large as well, we are given no reason other than Hilary's hands (for Pete's sake) for Tom to even look twice at an old gaffer three times his age. And, frankly, Tom's high-strung near-hysteria over Thaddeus was inexplicable, and Hilary's quiet martyrdom became vastly annoying.
In fact, the more I think about it, the more things I would change. So, I didn't love it, and I'm not even sure I liked it.
