The Sky Weaver by Kristen Ciccarelli

4.0

Saffire is the commandant of the King’s Guard in the kingdom of Firgaard. She is also the king’s cousin. When part of the king’s treasury goes missing from the palace, she is committed to capturing the thief. Only this is not an ordinary thief; this is Eris, the “Death Dancer”, a pirate with the ability to shift between worlds and out of danger. After stealing the ruby, Eris continues to prowl the Firgaard palace determined to annoy Saffire as much as possible. She knows she is walking a fine line but can’t help her attraction to the commandant. It soon becomes apparent that the feeling is reluctantly mutual. The King and Queen are sailing to the Star Isle kingdom to seek aid with the famine devastating the inner parts of the realm. Saffire is captured by the same pirates Eris works for and is also on a course for the Star Isles. It is there that many mysteries are unraveled and Eris finds out who she really is.

This is the third book of The Last Namsara and is considered a companion rather than a sequel. It is not necessary to have read the earlier two but would help flesh out some of the characters.
