This year is the year I’ve decided to stop reading books I can’t stand instead of finishing them for the sake of seeing things through. I truly can’t think of a better book to start with as I haven’t read one in a while that irked me the way this one does.
“First she was a seed, and then she was trouble.” This is a quote used to describe the author at the beginning of the book and by about 100 pages in, my impression is that it’s true. Although I would probably use a much harsher word than trouble to describe her. It’s possible things take a turn and she redeems herself. I sure hope that’s what happens. But I’m not invested in the character enough (at all) to find out. The fact that this is a book for my book club isn’t even reason enough for me to continue. So I shall end here.
