The Cloud Roads
by Martha Wells
This series... (yes I did literally spend an entire weekend to read all five books in this world. [minus the short story collections, but I am gonna get me them soooon]
That pretty much sums up what I feel about this book series. In my mind I am watching Avatar (not the last airbender) on steroids. With non conforming gender stereotypes. And no humans to frigg things up.
I adore Moon - he is my soul child, he is a very socially awkward shape-shifting man/dragon that could eat you for breakfast but won't. And Stone the grumpy sarcastic version along with Jade the baddest badass with Pearl her crazy counterpart.
Some minuses - it is not for everyone. The writing style is a little detached, which to me emphasized the inhuman-ness of the world. (You have to remember not of the species depicted in this are human, even if they have "humanity") Also the names of everyone was a bit hard to keep straight, it did take me a bit to remember who was who. However I recommend binge reading this series, you really become connected to the whole lot of them.
