I loved this book from cover to cover! I really enjoyed both main characters, but I felt a kinship, love, and protectiveness towards Callum. The way Calder portrayed Callum as this, yes very handsome prince, but more importantly a human being both craving human connection (of all kinds) but also one who is incredibly adept at connecting with perfect strangers. I loved Oliver’s backstory and especially enjoyed the flashback memories of him with his grandma and grandpa. I LOVE the romance genre, but if I’m being honest not every book I read do I feel the characters are each other’s one great love (although I’m always happy that they end up together because I’ll always root for love), but with Oliver and Callum their soul connection leaps off the page and was deeply felt by this reader. Lastly, I will say that as a gay man, I think Jax Calder wrote one of the most realistic and accurate portrayals of queer male sex, especially as it relates to anal sex. Sometimes authors get caught up in all the adjectives of their sexual intimacy scenes that they aren’t as careful with the verbs (i.e. the action) of those scenes, Jax Calder is decidedly not one of those authors. I highly recommend this book, if your like me, you won’t want to put it down.
