This book was a bit of a slough to get through and took me way longer to read it than it should have. The info dumping in this book really brought it down for me. I also found it a bit repetitive. Some editing could have fixed that.
I enjoyed the second half of the book much more than the first once i got through the majority of the lore being thrown into my face.
Despite my complaining, I did enjoy the magic system, the relationship between the two main characters, and the ending of the story.
Honestly, if not being my only option for a Buzzwordathon prompt, I would have DNFed this book early on. I already own the next book in the series, so I guess I'll continue it at some point.
