I think I forgot how well written this book was, or I just understood it better having grown up a bit since then. In any case I don't recall being so viscerally shaken by the complete breakdown of Fitz over the course of these books. His development later in the books makes more sense to me again as well. I also realises again how much I appreciate that Hobb doesn't go for the "humankind is perverted and looting, rape, and murder is what it does best" kind of realism, but a much more nuanced version that is not less powerful in describing tragedy.
Moderate: Torture
Minor: Rape
