Inked Temptation by Carrie Ann Ryan

4.0

This was a rollercoaster ride! A very emotional romantic read that has some dark and angsty moments and some funny and borderline cheesy (I loved it all!) moments. And I cannot believe that Ryan totally sucked me into this Montgomery universe, but she did. I finished the audio early this morning and went searching for the books to match with the characters I was interested in reading about. Like I need another series to be sucked into. But it's happening.

I had to listen to the audio for Teddy and Jacob's narration, and it was so good. Jacob's narration is so powerful. It might be the best I've heard from him. He covers the full spectrum of emotion.
SpoilerHe perfectly expresses the raw emotion, grief, and loss that Killian experiences. But I also love the softness of his voice when it's filled with his feelings for Archer. I had read reviews so I knew that he experienced something tragic, but I was NOT prepared. It is rough.

And it definitely had me back on the edge of that downward spiral thinking about my mom's last weeks in those hospitals. I had to do some positive rehearsing to pull myself back.

I love Ryan's development of their relationship though we do miss some moments I think b/c it's not quite as long as some of the novels. Archer's issues are so relatable. I love the connection that he and Killian seem to have almost from the start that allows them to see and know what the other needs. They balance each other and help each other to heal and take the steps necessary to move forward with their lives.

My brain is a sieve so I forgot the neighbor's name who just would not let Killian sit alone in his hermit life. She was a character. And I love Clara. So adorable. I have to confess that I also love the interactions between all the Montgomery clan. And I look forward to diving into their messiness.
