“I love you more than serial killers love conversion vans.”

While this is the first book I've read from my dear friend Green I have a feeling it's probably going to stand as a top favorite forever. Like anyone who reads the author's note, I knew exactly what I was getting into when I was given the honor of reading this beautiful novel before the masses, but I had no idea I would fall absolutely in love with it while it broke my heart into little pieces only to put it back together again with its words as the glue.

Not only is Beau and Haddie's relationship on a pedestal in my eyes, but Green's characterizations truly make you feel like you know each and every one of these characters intimately. That they too are your friends and family. Which only makes the subject matter in our plotline here hit that much harder.

Grief is a difficult thing to write about but Green does it with such poise and humor, a raw and real quality about it that only makes it that much more tangible. Watching Beau comfort Haddie through some of the most painful moments was truly heart wrenching and I can only hope and pray to have a love like that one day. Needless to say Beau is going on the book boyfriend list immediately.

Laugh was written not only with an extra ounce of blood, sweat, and tears but it was done so in the memory of my dear Green's sister whom I can only imagine is doubly as proud as I am for each and every word written in these pages. Not only is it beautiful in its portrayal of loss and grief, but it is astounding in its ability to balance all of that with the joys and absolute hilarity that is and can be life and living.

'Pain is easy to portray, but to use your passion and pain to portray the ecstasy and joy and magnificence of our world…'

My Green Princess– thank you for putting this out into the world. Thank you for reminding me why it's so important to continue talking about the ones we've lost. Thank you for helping me grieve, again, in a way I've been needing. Thank you.
