Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry

Istyria book blog ~ B's world of enchanted books

This is the second time I've read this book and I still love it just as much, if not more than the first time I read it! Pushing The Limits is a beatiful story about grief, loss, friendship, loving others and yourself, family,... Yeah, it did make me cry a couple of times.

This is the story of Noah and Echo. Echo Emerson doesn't remember what happened the night she went from popular to a freak with scars on her arms. No one really knows. And all she wants is everything to go back to normal. Noah Hutchins is the hot loner with a black leather jacket. At first sight, those two are from different worlds, but they have more in common than they think. Both have scars, inside and out and both want only one thing. Normal.

I think this was one of my first real YA contemporary romance book and I loved it to bits, but it also set a standard for all the books to follow. The writing is amazing. I love Katie McGarry and I don't even have to think twice about reading another book from her. It's heartbreaking and beautiful and the romance takes my breath away in every single book I read from her. This one was no different. It had been a while since I first read this book, so I was a little hazy on what happened with Echo and Noah, so it was, in a way, like I read it again for the first time. And that's not a bad thing because I got the full experience again! So many feels!

"I won't tell anyone, Echo. I promise." Noah tucked a curl behind my ear. It had been so long since someone touched me like he did. Why did it have to be Noah Hutchins? His dark brown eyes shifted to my covered arms. "You didn't do that-did you? It was done to you?" No one ever asked that question. They stared. They whispered. They laughed. But they never asked.

Echo is so relatable and I love her so much. She's been through hell and she doesn't even remember what happened exactly. And Noah is... Oh my god, he is so great. He's caring and sweet and hides behind this wall, scared to be hurt and to lose what he has left. He's also been through a lot in his life and I felt so bad for him! I adore the two of them together. And I also loved Noah's friends Isaiah and Beth. I read the third book in this series recently and it's about Isaiah and I loved it! The second book is about Beth, but that was also a long time ago, so I'm going to re-read that one soon!

I also loved their 'therapist' mrs Collins, but the rest of the people around them... I don't really like them. Most of the people around Echo just push her so much. Her dad is never happy with what she does, even though she's the perfect student. Her friends want her to be like before again, but she can't show her scars. They only think about her reputation. And Luke was just an asshole.

I still love this book to bits and I would recommend it to anyone who hasn't read it yet. And if you have, re-read it! It really is a great and beautiful book and this won't be the last time I read it.
