I like how the romance between Crier and Ayla developed, that seemed very true to me.
Spoiler ahead:
It was a little bit too convenient how the plot unfolded - Junn sending Ayla as a spy? With a full carriage? What kind of spying is that supposed to be? Why does Ayla has to do it, why can't it be done by one of the guards?
Seemed to me like an excuse so that Crier and Ayla would finally meet up with each other again.
Also the end felt a little bit rushed, especially with the operation. If the operation wouldn't have had a such an apparent outcome (Crier glowing), how would've been an argument to the other side? I still don't get why the Watcher interrupted them at the operation? Because there was no general attack, just this one intruder? Felt also a little bit forced.
But overall I really liked the story and the characters. I always worried that Nina Varela would sacrifice Benjy for giving Ayla even more motivation for fighting, so I'm very happy that this didn't happen.
