I have to admit this book surprised me. It came highly recommended from a few sources, but the synopsis gave me YA girlboss vibes. While this story was literally about a young adult and did lean girl boss, the author told a very well researched, empowering, and funny story. I shook my fist at the world for Margo, who appeared to try to do the right thing at all junctures but suffered from a lack of parental guidance and living in a world that is unfair to young women. My gripes were several characters being unrealistic caricatures of bad or good (Becca, Shayenne, mark, Kenny) and the lengthy detailed scenes creating content with the #squad that did not advance the plot. I also understand why margo needed to be 19, but sometimes it was hard to suspend my disbelief in her capabilities/worldview.
Graphic: Drug abuse, Drug use, Sexism
