This book was incredible from start to finish. It was full of interesting, lush details without being bogged down in unnecessary text. The characters were vivid, the references and nods to other literary works in the genre were just right (including a yellow wallpaper reference that delighted me!), and the story built very well. The book reminded me somewhat of the Jordan Peele movie Get Out, and made me think about the film in the context of a Gothic novel. I can't wait to rewatch it using the lens of this book.
