Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby Van Pelt

5.0

5/5 ⭐️s - Such a delightful book! When I first read a review of this book, I thought that there would be no way I would enjoy a book from that was written from an octopus’ point of view. However, this book was charming and entertaining from page 1. This story is written through the eyes of three main characters. Marcelus - an aging giant Pacific Octopus, Cameron - a 30-year-old man that has had a rough life and has a lot of growing up to do, and Tova - a 70ish year old woman whose son mysteriously passed away when he was 18 and, more recently, her husband to pancreatic cancer. These characters’ stories become intertwined at a local aquarium in Sowell Bay, Washington. And the story follows them through their journey of self-discovery and chance meetings.

I really felt like I could picture Sowell Bay so clearly. I felt like I knew the character, could see the town, and could feel the salt water coming off the bay. Shelby Van Pelt did a great job of writing this one. I laughed and cried and really felt deeply for each of the character, even the octopus!
