A Kingdom of Dreams by Judith McNaught
2.0

Judith can write and that's why she isn't getting a one. The mechanics are there, but this story just wasn't it. And it had so much potential! Enemies to lovers is so romantic.

However, making Jennifer 17 was...a choice. Like, I get it, times were different back then, but it wasn't necessary. Royce was literally 29. Wtf does he want from her except some borderline pedo shit? He referred to her as a "child-womam". ICK. The entire time reading this book I was grossed out about their age gap. And her being 17 was half the reason for all this drawn out angst, because she was a child and she was going to make child-like ass decisions.

Anyway. I should have given it one star but I reserve that for books that seem like they were written by an AI.
